32 All about centrifugal force
I have noticed that when Tigger is riding on his perch in the truck and we go round a turn in the road he now rolls to compensate for the turn. He didn't used to do that and would just end up hanging on as best he could at times.
"Tigger, I am impressed with you progress in physics. I said as I watched him compensate for a turn.
"What do you mean? Another fisicy thing? I didn't see any bugs." he said as he looked all around the windshield for bugs.
"Not 'fisicy thing'... physics. You have learned your lesson on centrifugal force very well. I didn't even know you were working on it."
"What is sin...whatever?" he said as he rolled to compensate for another curve.
"Not 'sin...whatever'... centrifugal force. It is what used to make you fall over almost every time we went around a curve. Now you compensate like a real pro. Sort of like a sailor getting his sea legs." I said knowing full well that I had used enough terms to confuse him for the rest of the day.
"Is that what it was. I used to hate it when that happened. I just got tired of falling over so I started leaning in the other direction. Is that what you mean?" he said as he did it again for another curve. These mountain roads have plenty of curves.
"Yes. I think you are one truly clever
cat to work that out. Sir Issac Newton would be proud of you."
"He would? Do I know him?"
"No, but if he had known you he would be really proud of you for figuring it out by yourself."
"Sailors look at legs?"
I knew I shouldn't have used that term sea legs'. "Yes, some sailors do indeed look at legs but that is not what I meant. When you first go out to sea and the ship is tossing around on the water it is hard to walk. It takes a little time to get the feel and be able to walk on a deck that is moving all around just like is hard for you to walk in the truck when it is leaning this way and that.
He stretched his hind leg out in front and studied it for a few moments. "These are sea legs?" he asked.
"Yes, sort of."
"Wow! They looks like any old ordinary cat legs. I never would have guessed."
"Well, there you are." I said and immediately regretted saying it.
"I thought that was me here." he said with incontrovertible logic. He looked all around himself... spotted a tail close behind him and attacked it. Noticing immediately that it was his own he groomed it for a moment to give the appearance that that was what he had intended to do all along.
"That isn't what I meant. It is another one of those figures of speech."
"You keep doing that to me. It confuses me." he said as he started to groom his newly found sea legs'.
"Sorry. I will try to watch it....."
